Sunday Stars for the week of 9/23 - 9/29

But Lindsay! you say, It’s not Sunday anymore! Yeah, i know… tell that to Comcast: my cable modem was experiencing “communication imperfections” yesterday. It came back up last night, but at that point i was just too tired to do much of anything. So you get ‘em a day late. But it’s aight, they haven’t gone stale. :D

In the blogosphere:

  • But You Don’t Look Sick: A Spoonie “Call to Arms” - good stuff. Read it.
  • Shapely Prose: Pants, meet fire extinguisher - Stop lying about your weight.
  • Big Fat Blog: Crocs Make Kids Fat - i’m so out of touch, that it took me a minute to realize they weren’t talking about the carnivorous amphibians that are frequently mistaken for alligators. But yes, this article is serious: it’s not genetics, it’s the shoes.
  • The Rotund: Object Lesson - TR was inspired by Sweet Machine’s post (”Pants, meet fire extinguisher”, linked above) and posted a picture of herself, challenging people to guess her height and weght. The results were posted a day or two later, here.
    • Kate Harding was so impressed by this that she created a Flickr photo set of Illustrated BMI Categories. View it here, read about it here.
    • Paul from Big Fat Blog provided a rather nice summary of this whole thing and then asks, Which way to ‘normal’?
  • too fat for fashion: Smoke & Mirrors - interesting write-up about the fashion industry and the almost-necessary smoking habit.
  • Seeworthy: Big Fat Carnival - Sixth Edition

In the news:

  • Apparently i still wasn’t feelin’ the whole news thing this week, because i found remarkably little worthy of linkage when i looked back at what i’d starred. So you get no news! Which is good news, supposedly.

Random cuteness:

  • Cute Overload: Panda squeaking and “Ehn!”-ing - okay, after all the fuss and holler about Mei Lan being born in Atlanta, i got kinda sick of Panda This and Panda That. But this? Cute. Even i, with my panda-jaded self, melted from the overwhelming cute.
  • ICHC: catburgler - i can’t tell if they’re holding up their hands in worship or terror. Given the circumstances, i imagine either response would be appropriate.
  • Stuff On My Cat: Peek-a-boo - it has a kitty, trying to be sneaky. That makes it pure awesome.
  • ICHC: IZ NOT UR BUTT - a very common scene in my house. Except it’s usually my butt.

One of these kids is not like the other:

  • Brass Goggles: Water-Cooled Steampunk PC - I’ve seen some pretty elaborate case mods, but this one really takes the cake.
  • What Not to Crochet: Squid Scarf - i want one!But then again, i have a love for all things with 8 or more arms. Octopuses and squid are just neat.
